I’ve been writing an online journal since 1998 or so. I started out manually editing html files, then I built a system in perl with a flat file database, then upgraded to bloxsom, then to wordpress. My content back in ’98 was a lot more personal than it is now – I see this is true with a lot of the old journals I used to read in the pre-rss days. Sort of an interesting difference. I lost my voice in the transition. Maybe it’s a byproduct of much better and faster search indexing!
